Our Story
Roasting with a passion
ESTABLISHED
1999
For nearly 50 years, our family has provided trusted coffee services to clients. In 1978, Dan Leach started serving fresh, locally roasted coffee to Western Canada's working communities. With his daughter Leona and son Randy, Dan expanded the small family venture into one of Calgary's largest coffee distributors, renowned for its quality and exceptional service.
By 1999, Dan decided it was time to roast his own coffee. With a vision for excellence, he purchased roasting equipment, leased a building, and hired a team, marking the birth of Kienna Coffee Roasters. We quickly became a trusted roaster for wholesale coffee distribution and private label customers across Canada.
KiennaCUP
2012
In 2012, recognizing the rapid growth of the single-serve coffee market we introduced our own branded product line with 100% biodegradable coffee pods. This eco-friendly innovation, the KiennaCUP was a game-changer, diverting over 10 million coffee pods from landfills and establishing us as Canada’s largest producer of biodegradable coffee pods.
EXPANSION
2015
As demand for our products grew, we expanded our operations in 2015 with a new facility, enhancing our production capabilities and reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Today, Kienna Coffee Roasters remains a family-owned business dedicated to serving customers of all sizes with a broad range of high-quality coffee options. We continue to emphasize exceptional customer service, timely delivery, and quality products.
”While roasting coffee is what we do at Kienna, it is not who we are, it is not what defines us. At Kienna, we have passion - passion for our customers, passion for our coffee and passion for creating an exceptional coffee experience."
